Meet Ronaldiño…

At the age of 16, Ronaldiño developed Guillain-Barré Syndrome, a potentially life-threatening condition where the immune system attacks the nerves.

Ronaldiño spent 3 months critically ill in hospital, but thanks to support from the Sol y Luna Foundation, he was able to leave hospital and begin living at the Sol y Luna Home.

Miraculously, Ronaldiño made a full recovery.

This was thanks to his brave and determined attitude, and the unwavering support of the Sol y Luna Foundation team.

Now, after graduating from the Sol y Luna School, Ronaldiño works full-time in the Sol y Luna Relais & Chateaux restaurant working alongside acclaimed Peruvian Chef, Diego Muñoz, and his team.

Why we need funds?

Peru suffered severely during the last few years with the pandemic followed by political instability. The needs and numbers of children supported by the Sol y Luna Foundation continue to grow.

Meet Marina

Marina was the first student to arrive at Paqari, our centre for children with different abilities.

Nine years later, Marina continues to receive support from the Sol y Luna staff, including weekly therapies and one on one attention in Paqari and the Home.

From extreme poverty to academic excellence

An example of our ever-growing funding needs can be seen as students graduate from the Sol y Luna School and move into higher education, forming part of our Roots & Wings programme.

Ruth Celina joined the Sol y Luna Foundation at four years of age. Here is a short film we made when Ruth Celina was studying at the Sol y Luna School and dreaming of her future.

Where there is hope there is life…

After completing her studies at the Sol y Luna School, Ruth Celina went on to complete the International Baccalaureate at a School in Cusco.

Thanks to many years of hard work and commitment to her studies, she was then offered a place to study International Business at the UPC, one of the best universities in Lima.

Ruth and her older sister became the first members of their family to go to university.

Even a small donation makes a big difference

Many of the children we support have been abused or abandoned.

It is incredible to see what they can achieve given education, love and care.

Please support our fundraiser and help the Sol y Luna Foundation team continue to change lives.

Footprint

The name Footprint originally came from our newsletter and we decided to use it for the Sol y Luna blog as well. Footprint fits well with the concept of Sol y Luna: our hotel was founded to support the local community. Leave footprints of kindness wherever you go.
